春暖花开 - “In the spring, flowers blossom”

This exchange is to celebrate all the side characters and pairings Meatbun created for us in The Dumb Husky and White Cat Shizun. All interpretations, whether gen or romantic, are open for this exchange so long as the focus of your creation is not the main ship Mo Ran/Chu Wanning.

As this event takes place in spring, we have named this event Spring Dreams. You don’t have to limit your works to that as a theme but it is one that we used as inspiration when creating this event.

Signups

Signups will be through Google Forms. You will need an email address for this event. You will also need either a twitter account or an AO3, depending on if you are signing up as an artist or a writer.

Email updates will be sent out before check-in and posting deadlines, but we encourage participants to join our Discord server for periodic reminders and updates!

Signups will run through February.

When you sign up for the event, you will be asked to list your Likes and Do Not Wants, along with three specific prompts you would like to see fulfilled by someone else.

You will also be asked to list the kind of content you are willing to create.

Matching is done manually by the mods. We will do our absolute best to match people based on their likes and also their do not wants.

Posting

Once the creation period is finished, if you choose to post on Ao3, whether art or fic, you will enter our Unrevealed Ao3 collection. During the posting period, all gifts will be revealed with the creators remaining anonymous. This adds to the fun and mystery of the gift exchange!
After one week, we will Reveal the identity of all creators who chose to submit their gifts through the Ao3 collection.

If you are posting art gifts on Twitter, there will be no anonymous gift period. We encourage people to post on Ao3 to add to the mystery, but this is not a requirement of the event.

Rules

All participants must be 18 at time of signup.This is a fanfiction and fanart exchange. Your works must be created by you. No plagiarism.There are no content or rating restrictions for this event. Please tag your work appropriately for any warnings or higher rating.All works must be created solely for this event. You are welcome to add any additional works to your submission post-event.All gifts must follow the giftee's Likes and Do Not Wants. If you're unsure, please contact a mod and we can help you clarify any questions you have with your giftee.Your submission must focus on side characters or pairings mainly. Ranwan can be a background ship but cannot be the main focus for your submission.Your submission must be at least 2.5k words (for Writers) or one piece of colored lineart (for Artists). You are free to do more than that, but that is the minimum requirement for your giftee’s submission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you aware of what “spring dreams” also means?
Yes we are. It’s a fun double pun. Meatbun would approve. We’re not cowards.

Can I write Ranwan?
Ranwan can be in the background, but cannot be the main focus of your work! While the mods love Ranwan, this event is dedicated to highlighting the large cast of side characters.

I have questions about my giftee’s prompts or preferences.
As this is a secret exchange, if you have any issues with your giftee’s or questions about their request, please reach out to the mod team first. We will facilitate or resolve any issues.

I can’t work with any of my giftee’s prompts.
We have tried our best to match everyone with someone who shares likes and interests. If you really think you cannot work with your giftee’s prompts, please reach out to the mod team immediately.

I need to drop out.
Life happens! Please reach out ASAP to the mod team if you no longer can participate so that we may find an appropriate person to take your assignment.

Betas?
All works should be polished and proofread such that you’re happy with posting them to AO3, but betas are not required for this event and mods will not be assigning them.
